Animated avatars can only be saved in .gif :) png images don't support animation. Archie will have made that avatar by using Photoshop to import a video to layers, then cutting it down to size. You can make animated images in GIMP as well, I've been meaning to try this tutorial for a while now:

Create an animated radar with GAP

If you want anything animated from a video, just give me a shout and I'll do it for you. If you're making the frames yourself, then GIMP can do that for you :)

Tom thanx very much, i saw a sonice gif on google that looked 3d like the ones I used in my sig, so I wanted an avatar in that 3D sonic or tails type thing. Can you see if you can make or find me something like this please?

These images are much bigger than the size limit for the forums, but if there's one that you like then I can resize it for you :) If you let the forum resize it for you, I think you'll lost the animation.

If you don't like any of them, there's plenty more, those were the best 3 in my eyes, but I'll post more if you want.

There was another one that turned up in my search, but I don't think you'd get away with it as an avatar:

    All done :)

Don't just embed the image link that I used, I'll probably delete it from my Dropbox some time and then your avatar will just disappear. Download it and reupload it to SF :)
