Logon image keeps alternating between default and user set

    Hey guys,

I think I have a unique problem, at least judging by the lack of answers on Google.

I am using TuneUp Utilities 2010 and Win7 Ultimate (x64).

I have used the TuneUp utility to change my logon image - everything went as expected, the new image is set...however, on every other or third restart (or shutdown/start) the image keeps reverting to the default Win7 one. I'm not even sure where to start troubleshooting.

Mind you, this is the only program/utility for customization that I use. I have changed my logon screen on my desktop (Win7 Ultimate, x64) and it is working perfectly. I did a clean install of Win7 on my laptop, did absolutely everything the same way like on the desktop and yet the logon screen keeps alternating back and forth.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please do not get me wrong but TuneUp Utilities has been known to cause lots of problems and is not recommended here, for changing the logon screen most of us use this tutorial.

    Hey Jerry,

Thanks so much for the prompt response. I suppose TuneUp for me is a force of habit - someone recommended it to me a long time ago and it stuck with me. I usually use it for a quick cleanup and defragmentation and only recently I used it to change the screen.

    Thanks once again :)

ps. do you have a recommendation to a TuneUp alternative? Bear in mind that I only use the 1-Click and Drive Defrag utilities.

I would recommend using Windows built in utilities.
