    Customizing a folder's icon?

    Hi All

I would like to know how you can customize the thumbnail of any folder in Widnows 7? If I right click on a folder, it doesn't give me the option to choose my own icon for that folder.

I know how to change the default icon for all windows folder, but not for a single folder.

    Thank You

Customizing the thumbnail preview of any folder is even easier . You just need a jpeg image that you want to look as the thumbnail preview. Put the image in the target folver, and rename it as Folder.jpg ; that's all.

Yup, just right-click the folder, select the "Customize" tab. There is a option there called "Folder Icons". You can change the folder icon there. Alternatively, you can choose a picture to show in the folder, on the icon, under the "Folder pictures" option.

The icon choice is extremely restrictive, but there we go.

    Hope this helps.

You won't have a customize tab if you are going into properties via a library. You have to go in via the file system.

Thank You, but how do I do that? Doing the Folder.jpg only shows the thumbnail inside a yellow folder icon, as if you page through it. How do I change the Folder Icon for a folder that does not have a customize tab under properties?

If you look at a folder via a library you don't get the customization tab. This is a folder via my documents library.
