Look into a dock. I use Objectdock, but many like Rocketdock. Once you get used to a dock, you never go back to a desktop of icons

I personally see a use for a Dock. all of my frequent programs are pinned to the taskbar, which is there to rule out a need for a dock, and all the less used are in the start menu for when needed.
Only text documents end up on my desktop.

    Anyone have an interesting desktop?

Just curious. I've used this one for many years.

It graduated to Windows 7 lately.

You've seen mine - now can I see yours?

That would be the main case running the 64bit Ultimate with a dual display set up.

Each display on the extended desktop has it's own wallpaper and almost separate theme while keeping it more neutral colorwise.
