I am failing to do the real job he wants me to do. Without changing the "os type" in BIOS, Ubuntu is impossible to install. But if the os type is changed to anything other than "windows8", windows does not boot

More time and more experiment will be needed on it.

Arc. Is it UEFI? Dual boot with Linux is not possible under UEFI....you have to use BIOS

Yes, it is UEFI. Advancements are causing limitations here.

Windows in installed as UEFI. Any chaanges makes windows unbootable. So the way remaining is either use windows only, or do a clean install applying Legacy BIOS
