Sorry for the delay in reply champ...
1) KDE: this is K Desktop Environment, an opensource project in desktop environments... earlier this was restricted to unix like operating systems and is the nearest to the look and feel of a Win7 desktop.
here is a link that displays KDE desktops on windows => LINK
and here is the LINK to lead you to the page from where it can be downloaded...
This desktop is still in its infancy on Windows platform but is very very popular and eye candy in the unix environment with lots of desktop effects and options to change the look and feel... KDE functions on the plasma desktop and the latest entrant is the BE::Shell (which you can find in some of my previous shots) Plasma desktop is still buggy in windows so i am using it as a layer on top of the windows shell... feel free to ask and i ll be happy to share with whatever i know ! :)
2. Isotope : this is a version 9.X of the PCBSD operating system and it is codenamed as such. This is not Linux but still a unix... BSD uses a totally different file system and kernel than linux and both are opensource... Both have an emulator called wine (windows emulator) where we can install windows specific programs and run it... in some shots you can see that i ve used Rainmeter (windows specific) to display in my pcbsd and linux shots...
Hope this brief description was helpful... i am just posting another shot from pcbsd OS...
