    Thumbnails in folders like xp


    Why 7 can't show thumbnails in folders like xp?
    (look at the picture)

    excellent response!

    I meant to point out that many people regret this preview.
    It seems impossible not to have something already done on the new win.

    But rereading the answer I can understand.

    if you right click a folder and select properties ,you then click the customize tab,click the choose file button in the folder picture section then select an image to show in the folder thumbnail .you can show albumart in a music folder, a specific picture in a photos folder and so on.

Can't view thumbnails on folders

After a week of searching, I am trying my luck here :) I can't get my folders to preview the pictures inside it, nor can I appoint an image to show on the outside of a folder any more. I tried everything I could think of and also tried the tut from here:...
I replaced the thumbnail folder icons in imageres.dll and now I have the actual thumbnails emerging from the folders and it looks all weird. Now I don't want to see them stick out of the folders, but I want to keep thumbnails on, so I can actually view them with out having to click on the file...

I am new to win7. i cannot get any folders to display as thumbnails. under view it only shows list, details, tiles and content. no thumbnails. i must be missing something, as i remember seeing it in XP. Thank You
