Changing the font color in the taskbar is possible....
Registry editing can't get this to work....

Tools that you need : Resource Hacker & a Hex Editor...

I am using Restorator 2007 and a freeware xvi32 Hex Editor....

Takeownership of the aero msstyles in (C:\window\Resources\Themes\Aero\aero.msstyles) if you are using the default style
do a backup just in case.

Open the aero.msstyles with Restorator or any Resource Hacker you're using...
Expand the Variant Folder and save the Normal.res in a place where you can find it.

Ok next come the hex editor, open the Normal.res with vxi32 and press Ctrl+G to bringup the search address & key in 2DC75 in the search box with hexadecimal radio button check
Once you in the right address look for FF FF FF in the correspond row it should be at column 12 13 14, change it to any color you desire and save it.

Note that the color is in Hex code not RGB.. eg if you wanna change to black the code is 00 00 00.

Lastly use Restorator and get the modded file back to aero.msstyles and replace it in C:\window\Resources\Themes\Aero\aero.msstyles

Logoff or restart to see the changes...

Hope this small tutorial will bring a smile to you........:)
Does this work without patching the uxtheme for third party? I'm assuming yes. Next question, I want to change the explorer background color and the pane to the left of it. Do you have the exact locations for those two? Someone else here has accomplished this but their tutorial/pic description was not as easy to understand as what you have posted here.

Greg S thanks for that mention regarding to the patch uxtheme. Yes indeed you need to patch 3 file inorder to use
    a third party msstyles.ThemeService.dll,themeui.dll & uxtheme.dll

Explorer background color & left panel background color... if you could put up a thread...i will see whether i could
assist you. Please attach a screenshot so that i know exactly what you want.

Please link me to the "someone else here has accomplished this.........."

You can't just edit the aero.msstyle and replace it leaving the name the same? Or does Windows see it has having been altered and won't use it meaning you need the patch?

    @ Greg S

Well i would only agree with you if you don't take ownership of that file aero.msstyle.
You need to take ownership of the file you're editing. ( mention in my tutorial )
Also you need to patch the 3 file as mention previously inorder to use the edited msstyle.
It is possible to edit the original aero.msstyle and save it back to any name you want or even same name.
If you happen to rename it to something else make sure in the folder en-US folder you have to rename it too.
eg. if you name your new edited file as Neon.msstyle than in en-US folder rename it to Neon.msstyles.mui

Ok i have seen the link... Six9Six actually showed you a screenshot of the address you need to edit in Restorator
to get the background change but he never show how to do it. Guess he is doing what mention in my tutorial to get the color code change......:)

    One more time for clarity,lol
If I take ownership of the style(aero.msstyle), edit it, don't rename it, save it/replace it as the same name, will I still need to do the patch? Thanks

can someone create a custom .msstyle that ONLY changes the task bar text color to black and gets rid of the faux glare on top of the opened programs (or tell me how)?

how do you get rid of the white glow behind the text in the title bar for windows with Restorator and a Hex editor? I think only VistaStyleBuilder can do this (anonym.to - free dereferer service) with a style hack (anonym.to - free dereferer service).

Using Win7 Style Builder... I changed the Taskbar Icon Label Font Color From Blue To White
( Just so you know where to find that modification area... I marked the path )

Taskbar & System Tray > TaskBand > Basic > TaskBand

    TextColor:Color Now It's White
