    Issue with custom folder icons

Hi. I know how to change my folder icons--Properties, Customize, Change Icon--but I don't actually know what this does. I'm asking because I changed a bunch of icons on an external HDD with .ico files from my computer, but I think I moved the original folder and the thumbnails vanished.

Does this mean that when I set an icon, I have to keep the image folder in the same path as it was when it was originally set? And if I store the icons on the HDD, would they display properly on other computers as well?

    Yes

Most likely they would not display properly because technically you are changing the path again, would be a different computer name or different username will change the path.

Thanks. Is there a way to make bulk changes to those paths to correct the directory (since the .ico file names are the same)?
