Removing the Task Bar, but leaving behind the Menu

Hey all, I'm a RocketDock user in general, so I usually don't have a need for a Task Bar.

I'm imagining a desktop that is completly free of everything, except for RocketDock (which is hidden, so that's gone too), and the Windows orb. I'd like the orb to be free floating and somewhat bigger than normal (I'd also like it to hide), if there is any item that must dock to the Task Bar, I'd like it to appear as a custom icon along the top of the screen, simliar to how the taskbar is now, except with no task bar.

Anyone know how I could do this?

Need me to make an image to help visualize this?

I'm a minimalist design type, so that's part of why I'd like to see this.

Don't think all of that's possible. If it is, never heard of someone accomplishing it, or with a third party app. Probably would require some serious tweaking. Could be wrong though, who knows.

Have not seen this done with Rocketdock - but there is/was an add-on for object dock that would remove the taskbar and add the start menu functionality to the dock itself. There were also add-ons to provide system tray functions.

This was of course all under XP and Vista - not sure how much if any development has been done yet but it is a possible route to check.

There was also an add-on for rocketdock that would allow the use of objectdock add-ons. Again I'm not sure of the current status of this

I've been thinking of a better way to explain this, basically I want to turn the Start Menu into a gadget. Thanks for the thoughts so far.

    Hi Zen,

As you can run more than one dock simultaneously

If you can get the required functions onto either rocketdock or objectdock it would be possible to have all the functions on one dock except for the start orb which would be placed on a second dock, also set to autohide which can be adjusted to appear wherever you want it to "float"

Just brainstorming possibilities here, of course

I'm not sure to well understanding your post but i think i have a solution for u !!

This little program will allow u to hide the TaskBar whenever u want it !!!
    Show/Hide Taskbar - RocketDock.com

And for the ''Start Menu'' ... if you press on the ''Windows buttom'' .... the start menu will appear even if you've hide the task bar !!!

After that, you could download this program who'll turn the Start Menu into a gadget for your Rocket Dock !!!!

Is that what you want ?
