    Unable to recover explorerframe.dll

    Hello,

I recently tried to install a theme and had to replace explorerframe.dll trough the standard procedure (take ownership, grant user permissions, replace)

I am now trying to get my old file back in place, but unfortunately I'm unable to do this using the same procedure.

    I tried the following things:

    - Same procedure.
    - Make a new user account to grant new permissions to.
    - Safe Mode.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums

    1st try
Do Option 2 of this tutorial SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker it will not harm any data or programs you have installed it will try to find and repair any corrupt system files that you have. You may need to do this up to 3 times with a reboot after each scan.

    If that does not work:
Do you still have the original explorerframe.dll?

    This worked!!!

For reference sake: I did have to do the whole repatching thing again in order to be able to use my theme.

Thanks a ton, that was good

You're Welcome, sorry I forgot to say you would need to repatch.
