Have a look here: ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Sidebar ) whether the sidebar folders are still there.

See what happens when you go into the Windows Sidebar folder (in program files x86) and open the sidebar .exe.

Microsoft (and some other security sites) have advised users to stop using gadgets due to security risks. Microsoft has done away with gadgets in Win 8 and not really supporting them on their web site any more.

Your gadgets should be located at

    C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Sidebar\Gadgets

Start> In search box type shell:gadgets> Enter

Do you see your gadget folders there?

I lost all of mine as well. Things were working smoothly until I had to make a move because my 30 day trial of the Sys.
Security Suite that came preinstalled on my new puter was about to expire. So, I did some house work. I ran Revo
uninstaller, then CCleaner and then ASC. Being without the security suite, I made sure that my Windows firewall and
Windows Defender were enabled, then downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials(BTW, I still had ThreatFire
running). Everything went down hill from there. For two days I searched for a solution, tried all I read on the forums.
ever the batch files for the registry keys. Nothing worked. I gave up and did a system restore, back to the one that
Revo created. Then installed AVG. Back to normal.

Start -> search for " Features" ->select "Turn Windows Features On or OFF" now go to Gadgets and turn it on (probably will be unselected) if its selected, double click on it. to active again, and restart windows.
