Remove icons in windows explorer navigation pane

    Remove icons in windows explorer navigation pane


    How can I remove the circled Icons? as in blank them to make the pane look cleaner?

    Hello Marcus, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    Since you do not want anything in the Navigation Pane, you could just turn off the Navigation Pane instead to not have it there. It's pretty much useless without anything in it anyways.

    Navigation Pane - Turn On or Off

    I do want it there. I use those 4 folders in the favs quite a lot, that is why I have cut it down to just them.

    I mean remove the icons only, keep the words.

    But thanks for the link anyway.

    I see.

    You could change the drive icons to be a transparent icon. This will change the drive icons in all locations in Windows.
    The shortcuts in Favorites can also be changed to a transparent icon. This would be in your C:\Users\(user-name)\Links folder. This will only change the icons in this location.

    To add more to Brink's replys the Computer icon is #109 and the Favorites icon is #1024, they are in the imageres.dll that is in C:\Windows\System32 and if 64 bit in both C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folders.
