Yeah, 3rd party tools usually make it easier... although it's nice to know what means was used behind the scenes, for future troubleshooting. Anyway, glad to hear you got it sorted out. :)

Hide a folder icon on the desktop
Is there a way to hide or remove the desktop icon on a folder showing on the desktop so that the folder name only shows? I don't need to have the icons showing on the desktop , just the folder name. I do not want this option anywhere other than the desktop. Thanks SFM

Icon Customize for the Users folder
To start: Desktop is XP Pro SP3, notebook is Windows 7 Pro SP1. I've set up shared folders on both computers without using Homegroup because the desktop is XP Pro and doesn't recognize Homegroup with Win 7. The accessing of shared files is no problem and desktop XP shows the "shared" hand...

I remember with XP it was possible to use one of my own pictures as a desk top folder icon , can this be done with windows 7 , and if so how ?
