Thanks, Nick ! That's you who taught me the lessons I learned , and now another one. I am going through them , but one thing always makes me wonder... how can you separate a part from an image so easily ?

BTW , do you know any free alternative of Myriad font, Nick ?

I made myself a sig for the Emerge Desktop forum, pretty much marking my return to ED after upgrading from XP (left logo and wallpaper) to Win7 (right logo and wallpaper)... Very basic, but I think the blending in the middle came out pretty well actually. What do you guys think?

    Hi Arc
Many thanks for taking the trouble. Have to say this sample is not exactly "Me". Bit too modern. My real passion hobby is Astronomy and I have found a background that would, I think suit. I'll attach it here. Also I would like my "mitchell65" all in lower case, please.
Early next week I will have been a member of the forum long enough to get my "Seven Pro" badge. Not sure if this gives me a 600 x 200 signature size, will wait and see.
Anyway here's my suggested background. Really no rush.
    Thanks again
P.S. Having looked I don't think I go up to 200px height with a Seven Pro badge. Can't find the detail as to what you need to get to 200px . Will come back on this. Can you holf fire on this until I get back to you. Don't want to waste your time on a sig that i can't use yet!

Arc has kindly offered to do me a sig but at the moment I can only have 600 x 100 px. Anyone know what I need to qualify for 200px height as my backgound of choice will look odd if too thin! There's no rush for my sig but don't want to waste Arc's time

It shouldn't be too difficult to capture the best parts of that image you posted in a 600x100px sig... But if you do want to use it at the same size it is now (600x166), then you can host it off-site (on PhotoBucket, Imageshack, etc) and just have a [IMG] tag in your sig pointing to the image. :)

Oh, and to answer your question more specifically; you'll get a 600x150px sig size when you receive a "Skilled" badge (green one). I think it only goes up to 600x200px with higher badges (or with a "GFX Team" badge). While you're a "Power User" you'll only have 600x100px.

Thanks for all the info. I would rather stick to the Forum rules, don't you think using Imageshack to bypass the Reputation and Badges defeats the object a bit, after all it's just a bit of fun surely. Sorry my old fashioned alta ego coming to the fore again. Anyway I am close to getting to the 150px stage anyway so shall settle for that.
    Thaks again for the info.

But it should be large !!
    yap still small...
It'll do that if you upload it to your SevenForum profile.. I don't really like doing this (I prefer to stick to forum rules), but if you want it full size; upload it to an image hosting site (PhotoBucket, ImageShack, etc) and then post a link to the file inside [IMG] tags in your sig. Then you'll get it full size.
