Windows reverts back to default setting

It seems that Windows has a mind of its own. There are two things I change on Windows but in a few days it goes back to the default settings. I do not like any system sound on my computer. It annoys me whenever I click on something I get the "beep". So I go into settings and change it to "NO Sound." It's OK for a couple of day but then it reverts back to where it was. I know that I can mute the sound on the volume control, but I shouldn't have to do that because there are times I want to listen to something on youtube or some such thing. Another thing is the mouse pointer, I like it to be black so that I can see it better. I go to the settings and change it to black but in a few days, it goes back to the way it was. This always happened on Win7 or Win8. Does anyone know of a way to correct this?

After you make your changes for the sound and your mouse pointer you need to save it as a theme, look at Option 2 of this tutorial should show you how to do it Theme - Change or Save

I just set it back the way I want it and saved it. It usually reverts back in a few days. So I'll wait until day 3 and then I'll let you know. If it reverts back it will do so by then.

So far-so good. It's been 24 hours now and it's sill set the way I want it. If it's still OK by Monday, it will mean the problem has been solved. I'll post back Monday and let you know.

    Mouse changes to default setting

I tried your solution and discovered that my theme section does not have a SAVE option....is there another way I can make the selection stay on mouse instead of the computer pad? Evidently one of my HELPFUL updates did this and it is driving me crazy....HELP, please!!!

Right click an unsaved theme and it'll give you the Save option
