accuweather will not let me select town

It is set to New York but I live in Australia. it doesnt recognise any country or state let alone my town. it is like the gadget is not working at all apart from the image showing up on the desktop. i have done a system repair and i have tried to use the windows gadget area to download it again but it does not have this function. i dont want to download another version of it since the function is already on the computer and i dont want to be doubling up space no matter how big or small it is. it should work. if i buy a product i expect every facet of it to work

how do i get the link? it is through the gadget function when you right click on the desktop

i have added a pic of it - you can see that the internet is connected, that the accuweather cannot update itself and that the window for updating the town will not recognise anything

it would seem that the weather gadget is not connecting to the server, at least thats the message i get.

i see from your snip thats that case for you also, so its not going to find your location until it connects.
i would use a different gadget that works.
microsoft have done away with gadget support as they want everyone using the apps in windows 8.

if you try the currency converter you may see that is not working also.

this happened a while ago then worked again so its intermittent.
there are plenty of decent gadgets out there that will work. there is one that is very similar in appearance, it was posted in a similar thread to this ,will have a search and post you a link.
