[Question] Vista-like Taskbar in Windows 7

Hi guys,

I am currently using Windows 7 Build 7000 Beta, as I'm sure many others are, and I am amazed at how much faster and better Windows 7 is compared to Vista. However, there is one little thing I was wondering about...

You know how in Windows Vista, the taskbar has this kind of "shiny" effect?

Yeah, well in Windows 7,they took this effect out of the taskbar.

I always loved the skin in Vista even though Vista itself wasn't very good, and I was wondering if this effect can be achieved once again in Windows 7.

(Also, in Vista, when a window is maximized, the taskbar turns solid, they took this away in Windows 7 skins too.)

Thanks.

Hi Clericx and welcome,

It's just the way the new taskbar is. It's still has the glass effect, it just doesn't look like the Vista one. You can see if you have these checked in Adjust Visual Effects. Control Panel-Performance Info and Tools-Adjust Visual Effects.

I know it looks different, and I know I have transparency enabled, what I'm asking is if there is a skin (or something) for 7 that makes it looks like Vista did, because I like how Vista's taskbar looks.

In other words, a Vista skin for Windows 7.

There's a lot of windows 7 themes for Vista but no Vista themes for windows 7, at least that I can find. This guy says they don't work on 7. Maybe at some point someone will come up with one but none that I can find right now. Maybe there is, I just don't know.

Yeah, that's probably the case then. Nobody's made one yet that changes the taskbar and such. Maybe, maybe not. Let us know if you ever find one that works.

They had the old Vista taskbar in build 6801, maybe there is some way to port it into the new build, just a thought.

That makes sense - a sort of reversal of Blue Badge should do the trick, eh?

THIS is the bit that I really want to know!! I've searched everywhere!! I can't believe this isn't bothering anone else? I love the translucent look of windows, but when I have a window in full screen mode, I want the taskbar to be solid!! this was standard in vista! A translucent taskbar and frame makes it look like the window you're using isn't full screen, and I see I get drawn to it every time! hate it (the only thing I hate so far!). Any ideas anybody? I know I can make it solid all the time, but thats not what I want either.
