Is there a way to enable thumnails on JUST image files

I like having custom folder/drive icons and in doing so I had to disable thumbnails in Folder Options(otherwise folders would generate thumbnails and create their own, non-matching, icons), but it's become annoying to look though my image and wallpaper folders since since they don't generate their unique thumbnails any more.

Is there any way I could keep thumbnails disabled for directories, but enabled for individual files, specifically images?
If not is there any other method I could use to globally change Windows' folder/drive icons without affecting individual files?

Welcome Beefstix to the windows 7 forum.

Sorry but it is all or nothing about the thumbnails.

Welcome to Seven Forums BEEFSTIX. You cannot choose which thumbs, but you can accomplish what you'd like with some effort. Have a look at this thread:

How do I use custom folder icon but still get file thumbnails

If you have questions, I can point Bongo (Jerry) to this thread if he does not see it. He is a wizard at these things
