Can't change file type icons

    Can't change file type icons


    Well, that's the problem, I can't change icons for file types.
    I've used several programs (IconPackager, vista visual mester) but nothing happened.
    Does anyone have any idea why this may be happening?

    we could use alot of info about your computer.. 32bit, or 64? clean install, or upgrade, etc

    I assume by fyle I think you mean file type. what do you want to change them to?

    What type of files ???
    W7 does not allow Icons for Image files .. But replaces them with Thumbnails

    Hello Malakias, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    This can show you how to change the default icons for file extensions. It's the same as in Vista. :)

So I edited the imageres.dll file and edited some icons however the icons don't show. The folder icons only show when the layout is set to large images, but if I set it to list or details or small icons the default icons show, why? look at the images below.. 191081191082
