How to restore Icons

    I never touched them, why would i change them ?

    Ok so you manually changed every single icon to your customized ones ? Then you would have copy the folder that holds the customized icons folder to a safe place and add them back manually .

    Yes, but what i want to know is there any file that holds all the settings for the customized folders so when i format my pc i dont need to recustomize every single folder cuz i have alot of folders

    That is why I was asking for the dll files . Those are where the icons are located .

    Go to C:\Windows\System32

    Locate the dll files I mentioned if there is no .bak or .old at the end of them then no what you want to do wont work . There is another process but that will require mounting the install.wim file and use Resource Hacker . Am not sure if I could help you with that due to rules .

    Great i have located them three Files but they all end with .dll there is no .bak or .old......

    Should i just copy a folder in the windows files ? like copy the whole system32 folder or....

    That will not help you . Looks like you will have to manually change the icons when you're done installing Windows .

    ok but if u can just give me an answer to this some times [2 times otta 6] when i format Drive C the icons stay customized how come ?

    Download Resource Hacker

    Download link http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/reshack_setup.exe

    Open the dll files inside Resource Hacker take a look inside the icon folder and see if the images are different from yours ?

    Just checked all 3 files all the icons inside them are the default windows icons couldnt find any of my icons
