The red "X" where the avatar is, just an inconvenience. Has done that on and off since the beginning. You should be more concerned with what it can do for you.

Helped me get 12,000 posts, be the first one to a post, etc

    Ken
Sounds like a YES vote there!

Thought that I would try this Gadget as well but I'm getting the same issues and the "Red X" where my Avatar should be. Oh well...
Sometimes I have to exit the gadget, reboot computer once or twice to get avatar back. Then restart gadget. I have had it running on 3 computers at the same time, some will be okay with avatar & some with red X ??? Sometimes it just comes back during the gadget refresh. Not sure what causes it.

The problem is as explained earlier the gadget is being overloaded! SF is a busy place where the gadget doesn't have room even for the avatar. An updated and revised gadget would be the item needed at this time.

Remember Gadget is a SF user's project, and hosted on his home server. Let's remember not to get too demanding of limneos.

Wow, knowing that now, I would say it's performed rather well then!

    Thanks limneos!

You can thank him for having a good project while it lasted! SF has actually grown considerably since it was developed however now running into the problems being described at this time. The number of lines displayed would need to be reduced in order to have it working normally again.

There are those who would gladly take over the responsibilities of maintaining it, but I fear it has been abandoned

    Hey Ken,

These people you speak of taking over the maintenance, would any of them have the ability to start from scratch with a completely new one?

I've always had problems with the current.

The feed input has been severely overloaded since it was first developed last year. Compare the member at that time and have a look now to see that some 7,000 or so have signed up only in the last two months.

Unfortunately starting from scratch would be the thing needed at this time to once again see a gadget that works and is not taxed by the steadily growing feed to it. The overload on the present one scrambles up the display making it awkward for most to use.
