I run 8 gadgets and really don't want to be without them !
I know the M$ stand on gadgets as far as security risks which begs the question:
Can the privilege levels of gadgets be reduced so that they can web-update but not make system changes ?

To be honest, most people just say good riddance to gadgets. I still use gadgets. I personally think the security risk is minimal, and also MS wanted to be rid of gadgets, and this worked in their favor. I would never advise anyone to take security risks, but have chosen to use gadgets myself. I have significant security on my system though, no doubt more then most

Can you advise what Windows process controls the gadgets ? Maybe sandboxing that will cap them all...
It is relatively simple for the developer to adjust the privileges of a process while it is in development but for a computer user this is problematic. If that was all that was required to make the gadgets safe I would assume Microsoft would have done so in an update. But things aren't always that simple. As an example, XP has some security issues that will never be fixed because the fix would break existing applications.
Gadgets that access the Internet are particularly at risk. In any event the servers that support them may be taken out of service at any time without notice.
