    Custom AutoAppear/Hide App?

I have a desktop calendar at the upper right corner of my screen. I would like it to be hidden and when I move the mouse over where it is I want it to appear and then disappear when I move the mouse away from it. If possible I would like this to happen with a few desktop gadgets (CPU meter, network monitor, etc.) as well.

    Thank you

im pretty sure you can customise the settings in this calendar to show when hovered over...

not sure about other gadgets, sounds like you need a side bar.

    thank you for reply -

I did stumble upon a utility in this forum that accomplishes 1/2 of my request. It is called 'Hot Corners', by Prisoner I believe. The only thing it won't do is 'hide' once the mouse is moved away from the corner and r-clik to quit the calendar is how I now do it ( I 'may' continue use this as a partial solution, the major drawback being that it uses way too much cpu).

Another idea I had that I am willing to 'settle' on :

Perhaps a key can be defined so that when I press and hold it the calendar appears (this way I can locate it anywhere) and when I release it it will disappear. It is fine if the key press 'runs' the app and the release 'quits' it. Can this be done?

    -thnx

rainlendar has hotkeys for this function apparently. at least to show and hide ,not run and close.

great! However, as per my 'other' idea, I would like the ability to generate other custom 'hot keys'(?) to do this appear(run)/hide(quit) function for other small apps (clock, meters, weather, file/directory, etc.). Possible?

i guess it depends on the gadgets, and their abilities, i doubt it though as most gadgets dont have that intricate level of options,
rainlendar is a good stand alone calendar and not a gadget per se.

    not sure about the others
i saw the calendar connection and remembered rainlendar working the way you wanted.
hopefully some one else may have a solution to the other gadgets.

interesting - I suppose I am re-directing my initial request to programming a key to do the 2 functions as described above i.e. :

    key press-hold = app appears(run?)
    key release = app disappear(exit/quit?)

do I make a new topic for this? or not do-able?

    -thank you

Edit : OK - made new topic to replace this one :

you could create hotkeys to the individual gadgets, then create hotkeys in each shortcut properties window,
doubt they could close the gadget though. i guess its maybe a coding thing ,thats not my area,
someone will come along that will know how to :)
