Tweaking the Power Button Icon in Start Menu

Hello, I hope you are well.

I think that the Power Button in the Start Menu, where users can choose for it to Lock, Sleep, Hibernate, and Shutdown their computers, is very useful. I'd like to somehow tweak it even further, but am not sure if this is even remotely possible.

Is there any way I can change it so that when I press the button, a certain program will start up? Ideally, I'd like to change the action of the Power Button to start up a program called Vista Shutdown Timer (Vista Shutdown Timer), an application which allows me to put on timer on when I'd like the computer to shut down, sleep, etc.

    Thanks,
    Vic

    Hello Vic,

Sorry, but no you cannot have it use another program instead for that. However, you can manually create a shut down shortcut that has a time delay and pin it to the Start Menu or Taskbar to run it manually instead, or just run the program manually to do so.

    Hope this helps,

How about registry tweaks that make the "shutdown" button put the computer to sleep so that when you click "shutdown", the computer goes to sleep?

    Hello Ragzarok,

You can change the Start Menu power button to "Sleep" or "Shut Down" instead, but it will not launch a different program to do so as the OP wanted.

    Hey,
I meant to say: make the shutdown button have the functionality of "putting the computer to sleep" so that when you click the button labeled "shutdown", the computer goes to sleep. This is off topic, and really just be used as a prank on my girlfriend.

Sorry but it will only let you do the above instead.
