    just run as administrator?

    Hello forum

Well, the only thing I DESPISE about Windows 7 is those damn PERMISSIONS! I feel like I'm back running Windows 95 (or was it 98? ) again. Thing is, I STILL can't figure it all out! SO, instead of tearing my hair out after messing around with inheritances and sharing and all of THAT bologna, I just decided to login as the Administrator (which I thought I WAS anyways?). Well, now, of course, I can't login directly when I boot, I have to choose Administrator before 7 loads. What I want to know is, should I just delete my original profile I originally set up so Administrator just boots up right away since that I what I login and use now anyways, or will that do something weird again to my original profile where I can't get into THOSE folders? Also, can anyone explain to me WHY in God's name they even HAVE all of those permissions (or decided to bring them back) when it is MY PC and I should be able to do WHAT I want WHEN I want to? It just seems so ridiculous and pointless?

Your account has admin privs.....but you go through the UAC system to take advantage of them.

Rather than disable the security that is there to protect you and the box, why not post what problems you are having and see if any of us can help you with the issues???

I'm not having problems running what I need with a standard user account and UAC on.

Ok, maybe I was wrong about the version, I just remember having the same problems a long time ago with a different version of Windows. There are several folders that are have a lock on them and when I try to access them I get this message: (Header) Location is not available (message) C:\System Volume Information (* or whichever folder it is) is not accessible. Access is denied. So, then when I go into the security tab, it will show different Groups or user names and then thats where the fun starts. Even though most of the time it looks like I SHOULD have permission to open the folder. I'm not the only one who has trouble with this BTW, there are a lot of other people who are complaining about this.

Just in my Documents and Settings folder ALONE I cannot access: Application Data, Cookies, Local Settings, My Documents, NetHood, PrintHood, Recent, SendTo, Start Menu and Templates? This is what I mean. However, here the folders DO NOT have a lock on them, so what is happening here?

All those folders are fake, delete or ignore them. I'm not wasting my time re-explaining them over and over again.

Ok, so I try to go into Application Data. Can't. Then I go into security. It shows Group or user names: Everyone, SYSTEM, Administrator (Stratman-PC\Administrator), AdministratorS(my capital) (Stratman-PC\Administrators). Now, how do I get this folder so I can open it?

You don't open it, the real location is AppData.

Seriously??? Where have you explained this before? Not to me? If you want to link me to where this is all explained I would definitely appreciate it! :)

So basically you're just telling me that Windows 7 has all of these folders that no one needs for anything?
