Time to get me a new sig -- The sunflower theme is getting a bit old, and I was wondering if anyone would mind putting some "rope" text over something resembling a honeycomb?

Just be careful that you don't get stung by bees when you're making the artwork.

The background looks like it was taken from somewhere else.

If you can't produce a texture using an original design, or at least using a template, then I can't keep it.

And why not? It's a perfectly good sig. We often use images we don't create as elements of larger works we do.
