Hi All,
I'm trying to learn GIMP (because it's FREE), but everyone here seems to be using Photoshop. I signed up at GIMPtalk, but it seems to be a dead forum. You can't even proceed until a Mod approves your initial posts and their Mods seem to be on vacation. Does anyone here know of an active GIMP forum where I can learn and get help from?
Thanks...
Kado - you just named your own poison.
Check this out. How do I make this 3d border work? I found a procedure on the net and have been trying to fill in the blanks (big blanks). The numbers are the original lines. The > directions are mine, but I am getting lost. Can't make it work.
I like simple directions. Not general guidelines. Your help is very much appreciated. I have a friend waiting on a Sig I'm doing, but I need to master this border to make the Sig look right.1. Round the corners of the image
Select > rounded rectangle...
2. Alpha to selection
Layer > Transparency > Alpha to Selection
3. Shrink selection (10px in this case)
Select > Shrink
4. Selection to path
Select > To Path
5. Alpha to selection
Layer > Transparency > Alpha to Selection
6. Subtract path from selection
Layer > Transparency > Subtract from Selection
7. New transparent layer
8. Fill selection on transparent layer with shaped (dimpled) blend white>black
You could also bump map the original image with the transparent layer.
Thanks for your assistance.
It wasn't a tutorial (I wish). Just a posting with the general numbered directions. Frustrating to follow.
Hey! If it were simple, I could do it.
