Kado - you lost me at step 8. Remember, I ain't that smart.
The paths dialog is usually docked as a tab with your layers dialogue. If it isn't then Windows->Dockable Dialogs->Paths will find it.

    Testing Kado's procedure...

OK! You're good partner. I know it's a little big for a border (first try!) Now how do I give it depth (3D)?
Will making it thinner give it the depth or am I still missing something?

P.S. - by the way, thanks. You just removed a big roadblock for me.

    Another question...
GIMP keeps trying to Save to Documents via the Desktop I want it to go to.
I can't find a Preference for Saving location. Any ideas?

    I looked this up >
Right click on the Gimp icon on the Windows deskbar or desktop. Select Properties and modify the "Start in:" directory according to your requirement, for example "C:\Documents and Settings\user.name\Desktop".

Again, thanks Lady. I would not have thought of the icon Properties.
    I must be getting old.

    Thanks Stephanie
    You got it.

I don't think there is a way of altering the save location default. You can however navigate to your desired location and set that as a favourite (small icon at the bottom of left pane) then you can get to it with one click.

One thing I've noticed is that the Sub-windows keep opening behind the primary GIMP window. I keep thinking, why didn't that work, when I see the flashing icon and realize the little window is hiding. This is the only program I've seen do that, that I can recall. They usually stand out in front demanding attention, before you can proceed.
