How do I change the opaque background of my taskbar transparent?

I changed my desktop background to black/white and the Start bar is opaque blue. I would like to make the background transparent.

    2GB DDR5 Video Card
    16GB 1866 DDR3 RAM
    256GB SSD
    128GB SSD
    TB 6GB/s HDD
    TB 3GB/s HDD

    Thanks! :)

    Hi, Welcome to forums.

Check out this tutorial Transparency - Enable or Disable. Might help you with the issue.

Windows 7 Professional seems to reject my GPU. It is an XFX R7850 Double Dissipation 2GB DDR5 PCI Express 3.0 256 bit Video Card. This is a reasonably high end card. Is it possible that my card cannot perform that simple task? The Device Manager suggests that my current drivers are the lagest and best. Thanks for the input and more if you have more.

Try using the registry way if you are that desperate. But remember, don't touch anything else unless you want to screw your windows.

Not exactly desparate, but when you have an itch that don't scratch, it makes for a disquiet spirit. If you were an artist, you would understand. I am too new at this to confidently modify the Registry. I almost wish you were burdened by the same condition; you would then take the matter seriously. In any event thanks for trying to help.

I am embarrassed to say that I must have checked or ticked something to get the transparency portion of the Windows 7 application to activate. I was then able to adjust the transparency. Obviously you who are helping me are the cause, I am just too stupid to know what I did that caused things to work. In any event, I am extremely grateful for the help.

Although this probably should not have been, it was very important to me. Thanks! :)
