Searching Contacts in Win 7 Professional (not working)

I used to have my laptop set up to retrieve contacts via a quick search (Start - Search programs and files),

For example, I would type a person's name and the person's vCard (.vcf) file would appear in the search results.

I like being able to quickly access contact information that way instead of having to open a program. I used to use the handy MS Outlook contacts in XP but, of course, that was unfortunately deprecated and is missed.

I exported my Windows Live contacts as vCards in my Contacts folder.

However, when I search for a person's name, nothing appears in either Windows Live or the Contacts folder.

I modified the search index to include those directories (".../username/Contacts" and and Windows Live Contacts) and still nothing comes up in the search results.

I rebuilt the index but still nothing comes up in the search results. (I had to enter the password for my Admin account first and then it supposedly accomplished the goal.)

Any ideas on what to do next or what I might be doing wrong?

Yes, I know that.

I guess what I really need (and used before) is to be able to access the vCard file from my /username/Contacts directory.

However, the windows search is not pulling up that directory and I don't know why, which is what I'm trying to figure out.

That is correct. Windows Live uses .csv files. We already established that and I agreed with you about that.

I already exported the Windows Live contacts as vCards to the my /username/Contacts directory (OUTSIDE of Windows Live) and don't need a converter. (sigh)

So, I have my contacts as .csv files in Windows Live and also in a directory OUTSIDE of Windows Live as vCards.

I have them in TWO LOCATIONS as TWO DIFFERENT FILES.

Hopefully, that makes sense now.

The problem ... and reason for posting on here ... is that I am unable to get the Windows Search to index either directory for searches.

I used to be able to pull up contact information by typing a name in the search bar under the Start menu. I believe that I was accessing the vCards from the /username/Contacts directory that was outside of Windows Live.

Now nothing comes up in searches and I have been unsuccessful in fixing the indexing. So, that is why I'm posting for assistance here.

So, I hope that someone here can understand my post and help me fix the indexing or figure out why it is not indexing properly.

To further clarify (hopefully), I am trying to search the contacts in Windows Contacts.

(Searching within Windows Live contacts - which is a .csv file - does not seem possible.)

So, if I enter a name of a business or person in the Windows Search box above the Start button, the person's contact info should pop up.

I had it working once before so I know it's possible.

For some reason, Windows Search is not retrieving the person's information from Windows Contacts (vCards).

I made sure the correct directory where the vCards are located for the Windows Contacts (/username/Contacts) is selected in the Indexing.

When it didn't work, I rebuilt the index in the Advanced features section (with the correct permissions) but it still is not indexing my search properly in order for me to retrieve the information.

Ideas? Suggestions?
