Desktop Background can only be solid colours. HELP!

Hey so a while back I noticed that my desktop background was replaced with just a black background and I couldn't change it to anything other than just the solid colours. Any images I changed to left me with a black background again. I've tried several "solutions" such as deleting transcoded wallpaper.jpg, running SFC SCANNOW and refreshing the Windows Experience Index score to no avail. Anybody have any idea as to what's going on with my background? One thing I have noticed which may be causing this, is that image files dont seem to show a thumbnail anymore. They can still be opened and viewed, however the thumbnails are always blank.

    Thanks for any help! :)

By any chance have you patched your system to install custom themes?
as sometimes this can mess up things.

You could elaborate more on why you want him to do a system restore.

We must try to solve the problem first, SR is a last resort.

Actually, if the problem just began, a System Restore would be my 1st suggestion. if it did not just begin, or if no SR point is available from before it began.

Start> In search box type Ease of access> Enter> Make the computer easier to see> Make things on the screen easier to see> Make sure Remove background images (where available) is unchecked

Also, make sure your thumbnail previews are enabled
