    Windows 7 Details View not showing details/data

    I need a little help with something that seems simple. I am using Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I have changed the columns in Details view in a folder. However Windows is not populating those columns, so what am I missing? This holds true on both my network drives and my local drives, so I checked my indexing options and they are set to index my local drives, so I assumed that should have at least worked. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Welcome to Seven Forums JLH1. Try this:

    Right click an empty area in that folder> Sort by> More

    Windows 7 Details View not showing details/data-sort-more.jpg

    Scroll down the list and make sure the categories you want are checked> OK

    @Bill,

    They should already be checked since the columns are showing in the folder's window. JLH1, is wondering why the information is not showing in the columns instead.

    @JLH1, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    The columns will only have the information if the file has it included in it's metadata. I see the same as you with my .msg files.

    Ahhh thanks Shawn. I'm a large icon guy myself I assume certain file types will not display certain details if they aren't available.

    Thanks Brink. What you said obviously makes sense, so do we know how or if it can be fixed?

    Unfortunately, there's nothing that can be done since the metadata isn't there to use for the columns.
