I don't think it sucks creating icons it just sucks at .ico extensions :)
Always has a white background ie no alpha :/

That's what I meant by sucks. It only creates 8bit or 16bit icons with no alpha channel.

Actually you don't have to remove the background,
All that is needed is to export as png and open in gimp or similar and export as an ico file :)
It's just weird cd won't do it :/
I saw a video which was the same issue but exported as bmp and the name had the ico extension but the bg was black so it didn't make much sense either to make a round object with a black square around it unless it's a start orb
