    I mainly use the eraser tool. It's nice to be able to erase one pixel at a time. :)

    As far as I know gimp does that too,
    Just zoom in and lower the size of the eraser tool it will be a square box usually the size of the pixels,
    View/ show pixel grid.

    It also has Select By Color I always liked that one

    Don't give up on gimp Chuck it has many cool features in one place,
    People choose different programs to use for many reasons,
    The trick is to concentrate on one and ask questions about it or research the function

    Good it's best to learn the menus and learn all of the tools,
    Keith pointed out 3 good ones there are many others :)
    But if you don't learn them you'll never really know the program or any program for that matter
    Version 2.8.10 is still the most stable version of gimp.
