Let pc optimize itself - now desktop is solid blue instead of Oceanis

Hi there -

I have Windows 7 Starter and have Oceanis running for desktop background.

At some point I was doing something and was presented with the question of whether or not I wanted to allow Windows to change settings to optimize the way my pc runs.

I clicked yes, and Windows changed my desktop background to a solid blue.

I know that Oceanis is still running, because I can see my background images for a brief moment when I first start my pc or switch from browser to desktop.

I can't find any clue as to what Windows did to "hide" my background images... any suggestions?

PS: This happened a few months ago, so I don't have a system restore point that would help.
PPS: I have already tried this: Start> In search box type Ease of access> Enter> Make the computer easier to see> Make things on the screen easier to see> Make sure Remove background images (where available) is unchecked.

When Windows issues that message, it usually indicates Windows has sensed a possible degradation in system performance and will try to change setting to improve performance.

Hi! I tried that just now, but still just a plain blue background. So weird. And you're right-- I was having problems with my graphics accelerator, so I was doing some troubleshooting when I got the option to let Windows optimize itself. I just didn't expect it to do something I couldn't undo. The other thing it changed was my image thumbnails in my folders -- but I was able to fix that by going into Visual Effects and ticking the box. Any other suggestions for making my desktop background visible? It's literally UNDER this blue screen! I moved my taskbar a few minutes ago, and you could see the background image for a moment where the taskbar had been. This is driving me insane, lol.

I have updated my specs, and below is a screenshot of my Experience Index. I realize this little netbook can't do much compared to a lot of other pc's, but Oceanis was working very well until I allowed the system to make the changes itself. The changes didn't remedy the problem I was having -- it was something entirely different which has since been taken care of. So I just want to have my backgrounds back, even if my system goes a bit slower! :)

Personally, I found Oceanis a little buggy for my liking, carwiz makes a good point about this,

Oceanis actually runs at startup to function, and is a drain on resources. It does have the slideshow option also which can be a drain as well.

If you just want to change your background, I think option two is a better method myself,

Personalization Panel just adds the context menu entry and isn't a program that needs to run at startup or hog resources.

I would completely uninstall Oceanis and try the other one, this might be useful as well to keep your other startups to a minimum,
