Breadcrumbs are not the same! They make it harder to go up multiple levels, especially when dealing with long file names.
My Classic Shell software adds a toolbar with Up button: Welcome to Classic Shell
The next version will integrate the Up button directly in the title bar of Explorer. See this screenshot (of course the final version will have better graphics :)):

Hopefully it will be ready by the end of this week.
I seriously do not understand the issue with that arrow going up. All you have to do is click on the folder target in the explorer bar. If it says C:\\Computer/AAA/BBB/CCC and you want to go back up a folder, simply click on BBB. You can even go straight back to AAA or Computer if you want with one click.
Also, for firseal, I believe you mentioned that you dislike the new taskbar. Here is what you do. Right click the taskbar, properties. Check the "use small icons" box. For taskbar buttons, click on never combine. Then you have a perfectly usable taskbar just the way you like it. You could also drag the minimized programs across the taskbar (reordering the programs, something you cannot do in xp).
Also, get this program for a more classic interface like xp.
Welcome to Classic Shell
No offense to Anybody:
Seriously, I believe that those who do not want to change should just stay in XP, unless they are willing to open their minds to changes. It is because of these that Microsoft is unable to innovate. Look at Apple, their entire community is perfectly able to immediately accept any changes with praise. This is why Apple is so innovative, and has such an advanced GUI. Microsoft, to attain the desires of users who do not like change, is constantly crawling like a turtle.
thats classic shell is cool my mate oves it but he still complaining about the breadcrumbs which i think there is no way to turn them off yet program or overwise.
For the same reason some people think some paintings, drawings and sculpture are high art and others think the same items are yard sale fare. People have different tastes and just because their's don't coincide with yours doesn't make their's wrong. Unless, of course, you're Barack Obama.
i didn't believe my thread is still going on after all this time lol from a couple of simple questions turned into a huge debate which is cool but we have solved half of my original questions so far he he. me personally i love both the XP and vista gui's the same but i think if people want the old way they can have it if they want to i mean Microsoft doesn't have to do but other people can if they really want to.
