    Context Menu - Separator Questions

    Hello Everyone,

I have tested a great deal of context menu editors but I unfortunately have not been able to figure these questions out.

    1.) Adding Separators
In the programs I have tested, I have come across a few that allow you to add separators but only to their sections in the context menu and not anywhere you would like. Any programs that will allow you to put separators anywhere within the context menu?

2.) Editing (moving / deleting) Existing Separators
Are there any programs that allow you to edit the existing separators determined by Microsoft?

3.) Darken The Color Of Separators (most important of all)
Is there any programs that allow you to change the color of separators in the context menu? I looked quite a bit for this one but I could never seem to find a solution.

They are currently a light gray on top of a light gray, not the best design choice. Isn't the point of a separator so you can see a distinguished separation between list items?

    Thank You

Thank you very much for your response

So hard to believe that there isn't anything that can perform these tasks.
Like I said I tested out a lot of context menu editors and none of them contain any ways to edit these separators.
I wonder if it because no one has enough interest to pursue a solution or is it due to not being able to edit these functions in Windows?

If anyone else has any ideas please let me know.

Welcome to Seven Forums miketurn1234 and sweatyHotdogs. As mentioned, adding separators is possible, in a limited fashion. If you haven't tried these, have a look:

Customize Context Menu in Windows 7 ? Windows, Windows 7

Removing or changing the color however would likely require Style builder or similar. A Guy

    Thank you for your response

A while back, I unfortunately tried the two context menu editors you refer to along with about 15 others and from what I gather they only allow you to add separators to their items that they add to the context menu, unless I am incorrect?
Then again, I guess you could remove all the items from your context menu and then possibly add them all back with one of these programs and then add the separators, not sure if I would have the knowledge to make all that work. Probably wouldn't be worth attempting.

There probably isn't a huge need to remove the existing separators, especially if it is too difficult. The changing of the color would still be something I would like to be able to do though.

I have never tried anything like the last program you mentioned, a Style Builder.
I just searched around a bit, is that a type of program where you have to have programming knowledge to use?
I don't have any programming knowledge so I hope not. I think I found a freeware one, it seems all the others are commercial products. Does anyone know of a simple to use free "style builder" that could edit the color of context menu separators?

I say freeware because it would seem foolish to buy a program just to darken a couple lines.

Anyways thanks again for your response, if anyone has any more information to share please let me know.

Not programming, it's editing executables to change windows appearance. It isn't just click and change, you have to learn it, and know where to find the items you want to change, etc. I am not positive that includes the separators to be honest, although it's likely

    Registry Edit, not hack.

So there is a registry edit that can add a separator.
Am I correct in saying that there is no registry edit that could replace the gray separator with a black separator?
Kind of like how you can change context menu icons, file type icons, etc. through the registry.
