Remove Clutter from Win 7 Explorer Window?

    Hi!

I'm an old guy (who still yearns for the elegance and simplicity of CP/M) struggling to clean up the clutter and confusion in the Windows 7 GUI. (I have to confess that I clung to an old computer running Win 2K up until a few months ago when it finally died, and I grudgingly switched to an old computer running Win 7 given to me by my cousin (who sadly is also no longer with us )).

Right now I'm trying to clean up the folder that opens up from Windows Explorer when you right click on a folder and then click "Open in new window."

I just found the "Layout" setting under the "Organize" drop down menu and turned off the "Navigation pane." That is a big help!

Now I'm trying to figure out how to hide the multiple bars at the top of the window:

Ideally I'd like to have them viewable on demand by pressing a shortcut key or two.

The main one I'd like to hide is the second one from the top that looks like a bar from a web browser. I can't imagine ever needing to see that one.

The next two would be nice to be able to hide, but call back as needed.

What I'm after is a clean uncluttered window, so I can open two or more windows side by side and drag and drop files and/or folders back and forth between them.

    Is this doable?

    They are nailed.

See here: Move the address bar below the menu bar in Windows Explorer

You can also turn off the menu bar using the same Layout path. Pressing the Alt key will then toggle it on and off when you need it

Menu Bar - Turn On or Off
