    Context menu customization and management

    Hi all,

this is my first post in this forum and I hope to get some ideas here :)

I have a Windows 7 64bit problem that disturbs me for some quite time, and by now I have found no real solution.

It is about the context menu, and here primarily for explorer (e.g. when right-clicking on a folder or file). With a growing number of applications, the context menu becomes quite cluttered with numerous entries. Most of them are quite useful (otherwise you wouldn't have installed the programs in the first place). Since they are all written into the context menu, the latter becomes a bit confusing over time. Here a software to manage to organize the context menu comes in quite handy.

For 32bit versions of Windows, there is the perfect solution to this problem: Mmm (or its bigger cousin Mmm+) from HACE software solved this issue amazingly elegant and efficient. It was made for for Windows XP, but (for me) it also works on a Win 7 Starter 32bit. The issue is, that it doesn't work under 64bit versions of Windows. You can manage to install it, but even with all compatibility options clicked on, it won't do what it is supposed to do (managing the context menu). I have already unsuccessfully tried to contact the author (I don't know whether he's still in business; the site is quite outdated by now) and IMO it is unlikely to get further support from this side.

Now I'm looking for an alternative solution. There are several programs available (e.g. FileMenuTools, ShellExView, Moo0 RightClicker, RightClick Enhancer etc.) that are able to edit the context menu, but they don't address the core of my question: I need the ability to re-arrange all the existing entries (both from the OS, but also from other programs) into sub-menus of my own choosing (e.g. creating theme-based groups like "security" or "file operations"). All the mentioned alternatives can either delete or disable context menu entries from other programs - and some can also create their own entries - but none of them is able to re-arrange the entries from other programs or the OS like Mmm or Mmm+ can. Disabling or even deleting entries is no solution, since I need many of them.

The image below (from the HACE website)is an example of what I need: The ability to re-group any entry (and not only those of the tool software), so that the core menu becomes tidier - with sub-menus that deal with the specific themes I deem reasonable for me.

Mmm sample of "before and after" (from HACE's website):

    Thanks for all answers :)

There is also this older thread in the forum that deals with exactly the same question. Unfotunately it seems that there has been no solution in the meantime...
