    Chrome uploads folder display issues

Well I don't have chrome installed but I do sometimes use Aviator - a chromium based browser and I'm using it to write this post. I get the same issue - the default folder shows up. I think it's got something to do with "User Folders" and AppData folders - they don't get changed.

I'll look at that tutorial again as I think it shows how to change the icon on these folders too.

Aviator & AppData - It's probably the same for Chrome.

    Here is the tutorial:

I'll try it on my machine.

    Chrome file browser

Tried it. It didn't make any difference.

If I manually change the folder icon it will show up in Aviator (Chrome) file uploader but it's ridiculous to attempt to manually change the icon for every folder and sub folder.

The thing is - using a different browser to upload files does actually show the custom icons! I haven't yet figured out what's going on with Chrome. There's quite a number of members using Chrome so maybe they might provide clues if they read this thread! I'll keep trying to figure it out.

Edit: Screenshot is from Aviator when browsing for a file to upload. In Explorer the icons all show blue.

    Screenshots from both

    Screenshots to illustrate the problem:

    Explorer shows custom icons:

Chrome (or Aviator still shows original icons)

    Hi,

So the wrong icon will show when uploading to chrome, saving a file as, and in ZIP files. It is not a chrome-isolated problem.

    Chrome folder icons

Well here's some better screenshots that actually show the file uploader in action. Different browsers used on the same machine.

Uploading a file using Opera - the custom (blue) folder icons are shown.

Uploading a file using Chrome (Aviator in this case) - the default (yellow) folder icons are shown.

It seems to suggest that Chrome will only show the default yellow folder icons no matter how much you customise your icons in windows. At least that's the theory. I'm hoping that someone else will confirm this. With luck another forum member who uses Chrome but has custom folder icons in windows will be able to add their thoughts.

    Re: Ziped folder icons

To change zip folder icons you need to modify zipfldr.dll in system32 and syswow64.

That means creating your own set of icons in all sizes and replacing the existing ones.

    Hi,

I meant folders IN the zip file have the folder 10 icon, not the zip file itself. I tried setting the 10 in imageres.dll to the one I have selected, but it has not seemed to work.
