Arrange desktop icons in "list view"

Hey folks - does anyone know how I can get my desktop to display the icons in "List view" ?

I had previously used wintidy2 but it doesn't seem to work anymore (nor can i find the download).

I'd like to get my icons lined up with the text to the right of the icon.

Thx for any help! Scouring the internet everywhere for a solution & hoping someone here might know.

There is not a built-in way to do it. There may be third-party apps out there that do what you want.

hmm - figured so much, as vista didnt have the ability either.

any idea of apps out there would accomodate?

wintidy2 worked for me right after the vista -> win7 upgrade, but crapped out after the first reboot and hasnt been functional since.

ideally i'd just like to have something that arranges the icons a little more cleanly than win7 does by default. the ctrl+scroll tip didnt do a ton for me...

Try right-clicking on the desktop and review the View and Sort by menus.

thx...still leaves tons of wasted space and monstrous icons (even when shrunk down to the smallest size) tho...

i'll keep looking, appreciate the suggestions though.

"Desktop List View" was a small & great app in Vista, I've been checking for any signs of an update since it's bungo in 7 too.
