Win 7 Desktop Gadgets ?
Are widows seven desktop gadgets still considered a security threat - is there a recommended alternate (mostly clock) for them is security issues are still there ?
Thanks....TRinAz

Because of the security risks Microsoft has long recommended that the use of desktop gadgets be discontinued. This has not changed. There are a number of security issues that have not and will not be fixed. The problem isn't just in the gadgets themselves but the infrastructure that supports them.
You would be better off with a third party alternative.
Strange that we never saw any of these alleged gadget security threats materialize at the home of Win7. It's also suspicious that these claims were made when they opened the Windows 8 Store which was where we were all going to line up to buy apps like these. The plan flopped, forcing out the CEO but apparently still costing us our gadgets.
I cannot disclose my efforts at the Global MVP Summit to confront those responsible for this because I am under Non-Disclosure on that event, suffice it to say that at that time the train was going to Windows 8 and we were either on it or not. But I want you to know that there was one MS Consumer Expert fighting for tens of millions of consumers who love the gadgets.
If you start losing gadget functionality you can install the latest version of 8GadgetPack - Gadgets for Windows 8 / 8.1 which also works for Windows 7.
I am still very unhappy about this.
