Weather Gadget says "Can't Connect to Service".

My Weather Gadget says it can't connect to service. Does anyone know of a fix for this? It's been working just fine. I have an active internet connection, so I don't know why it would say this.

See if this helps, it's a known recent problem,

    1. Close the weather gadget.
    2. Open the following with your default notepad editor: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Services\Cache\Config.xml
    3. Make no changes and simply click file->save and then exit.
    4. Re-open the gadget and it should work.

Interesting, just to be clear, you have closed the gadget? No longer on your desktop?

Yes. I closed the Weather Gadget. I didn't close the News Gadget though. I read on that link you sent me that it has to do with a recent security update for Windows.

There are many theories about what causes the problem and how to fix it. The fix may work for some but not for others. I doubt that it has to do with a security update for Windows. I have several users on my computer and the Weather gadget works for one user but not for others.

I must switch users and go to the account where it works to check the weather. So on the same computer, it works, but it doesn't work for all users.

I only have one user, and that's me. Should I make another user, and see if it works?

That would be an interesting experiment. I'd like to know if it does work.

You might want to have a second User Account for additional reasons. If you have a virus, malware or other problem which blocks your primary User Account, then you can go to the second User Account to access the Internet and get help. If malware prevents you from running your antivirus program, you may still be able to run the program from the second User Account.

A second User Account can give you access to your computer and to the Internet to find solutions when your primary User Account doesn't work.
