Removing a blank space from the Windows 7 Taskbar

    Hello all,
Recently I have been having this problem with my taskbar (no, not my system tray) where I have this weird empty space. I took a snapshot to show what I'm talking about:

As you can see, there is a blank spot between the Windows mail icon and the paint icon in the picture above. I did do some research on it, but could only find forums on the topic of adding the blank space to the taskbar. It seems like it happened when I was downloading Minecraft and I dragged the icon to the taskbar to pin it to it while the program was open. Ever since then, there has been an empty space there. It doesn't lead anywhere when I click it, and I can't right click the empty spot to check properties or anything. Anyone know how to fix this?

See if you can remove the messed up pinned icon by removing its shortcut from this path and rebooting. C:\Users\"your user name"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar (User Pinned is a hidden folder).

EDIT: also your picture does not show up for me. I saw it by using site inspector and seeing it pointed to here View image: taskbar

Glad to hear it, did you find a shortcut in there that was the old one? Don't forget to mark your thread as solved if you fixed it.
