    Personalization File Missing

When I right click my background; the personalization option has a blank page and won't open. I can't open personalization through the start menu either. I have to open the control panel and try that away; when I press the button to change the background a message pops up saying windows can't find '::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\1\::{ED834ED6-4B5A-4BFE-8...|pageWallpaper'.
Make sure you typed the name correctly.

It's a dell inspirion 1545; originally with Windows Vista, but turned into Windows 7....About 5 months back I didn't have this issue and I went to change it now and it won't work..

How do I fix this problem??

Hello Immason, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

You might see if going through the tutorial below to add Personalize may be able to restore it.

Personalize - Add or Remove from Desktop Context Menu

If not, then you could also do a system restore using a restore point dated before this happened to sort it.

Thank you Brink I will try the tutorial first, will the restore make me lose any files? I have a lot of family pictures and stuff that I wouldn't want to lose

System restore won't affect anything in your user profile folders.

However, I would always recommend to backup anything that you do not want to lose to be safe.
