Restrict yourself from accidently messing up the taskbar.
Hello fellow Windows users,
Given that I like to modify everything of my interface,
I've found ease in doing so with the Registry,
However, I'd really like to disable the rearrangement of already placed
and properly arranged icons on my taskbar, thus I'd like to restrict myself
from accidentally dragging such a pinned program icon to a different place,
in my carefully put together sequence of pinned program icons on my taskbar.
in this key :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
I've tried to create and set (with the desired value), the following dword values in my registry :
LockTaskbar
NoSetTaskbar
TaskbarSizeMove
NoTrayContextMenu
All those actually did what they were supposed to do, providing the values 0 or 1.
Then for the actual purpose of my searches, I created and set up ;
NoCloseDragDropBands
NoMovingBands
But both don't seem to enable or disable my ability to drag and rearrange the icons on my taskbar.
Thus my question is (/are) ;
Which dword values could restrict my ability to drag and rearrange my taskbar icons (my pinned programs) or how should I lock those icon positions?
Also, in addition, I'd like to know whether there are some dword values to specifically disable pinning and/or unpinning programs to the taskbar?
I'd rather not touch the Local Machine keys, however I'm so far not convinced that I should,
given that other modifications to the CurrentUser keys all worked as expected,
my knowledge on keys and dword values might just be too insufficient here,
either way, if you know what I should do or could do, please let me know.
Kind Regards
