Desktop and start button change mysteriously??

About 10 minutes ago, I noticed a new thread asking about the Start Orb, so my eyes drifted down to my Start Orb.

It wasn't there and isn't there. It's been replaced by the old rectangular button.

Additionally, I see that my programs springing up from the new start button look much more like Windows of old. The grey background behind the program names is new.

I don't have the slightest idea why this happened. It clearly happened within the last 20 minutes.

What has happened? I may want to keep things with this new look but have no explanation at all how to keep it, change it, control it, etc.

    Here is the pic:

Looks like you have selected the Windows Classic theme somehow, which can be set in your customization menu.

Thanks for that, Grim. Don't know how it happened.

On the subject of themes--which I generally hope to avoid as I don't like eye candy--is it possible to use "slideshow" to rotate wallpaper with a theme in place? I fiddled with it briefly a couple of days ago and had no luck--it seemed as if when choose a theme, you are locked into a particular desktop background. I'm going to fiddle some more now with this classic look.

What do you mean by customization and how can I go there?

It is possible for me, and I use/rotate a few of Mark's themes. I have no clue why it does not work for you. Maybe a restore or sfc will fix things.

The problem is that my wallpaper is stuck on high contrast or window classic but when I click window color after
I click personalize, it opens up Window Color and Appearance. How do I change it so that it will go back to Windows Basic?
