    recycle bin

I have tried to change the recycle bin icon (full and empty) which works - sort of. But the empty icon doesn't change to full when I throw something away. The icon doesn't change. It only changes when the system reboots.

    Have I missed something?

I had a problem with recycle bin and used this information. The premise is actually delete the old icon and restore with a new and working one.

Hello Doctor, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might also give this a try to see if it may help using your current icons.

    Nothing's working hey guys.

I tried changing the icons back to default - and it changed for full and empty as it should. But for some reason it just won't work for the icons i want to use.

Am I putting the icons i want to use in the right place?

I have always placed custom icons that I used in a folder in "My Documents" folder. You might try them from there.

Could you upload and attach (paperclip icon while editing post) your icons in a ZIP file here to see if they may at issue?

I think I may have found what's causing the problem - but now there's another.

The icons I am trying to set are on my C drive and I think I need to tell the recycle bin properties to read from that drive (recycle bin location).

But when I try to change the recycle bin location and click "apply" it just keeps resetting itself.

    ??

This bug has been around since Vista (for me anyhow).

I ain't on Win 7 enough to see it but nothing fixes it 100% permanently in Vista so assume same in Win 7.

Rebooting normally refreshes it and it can not rise its ugly head for ages again.
