Can i run my laptop on AC power (without removing the battery) ?

I always use my laptop directly on AC power (removing the battery) unless I am travelling or there is no source around. But can i run it on AC power without removing the battery and when AC power turns off the laptop automatically going to run on battery ?

If I understand the question set correctly, yes, your laptop can run just fine with the battery inside and the AC cord plugged in. I think what happens is that the AC cord is charging the battery at all times while the battery powers the laptop at all times.
If you unplug the AC cord, the battery simply continue onward.

Can i change that and let AC cord powers the laptop at all times (without removing the battery) ? and when the electricity turns off the battery automatically going to powers the laptop.

I don't believe laptops will work any other way...let's ask others here in the know.

This is the natural flow of events for a laptops the battery is generally not intended to be removed. Some new laptops don't even give you access to the battery or HDD anymore unless you remove the entire real cover.

    Your choice:

    • run on AC with battery - battery kicks in when AC is removed
    • run on battery without ever having AC attached
    • run on AC with battery removed - computer will crash off of AC is removed.

I have two laptops that no longer have batteries in them ever and run exclusively on AC.

My little ACER that I rebuilt from 4 other ACERS (I had to order replacement keyboard from China via EBay) requires that I have some sort of battery plugged into it before I can run it off the charger. But it works! So for 50 bux and a little determination I have a functional lap top despite the fact that my battery won't keep a charge.
